My hips are tight. What’s my next move?

Tight hips are definitely a significant concern within the fitness industry, frequently causing discomfort and mobility issues for many individuals.The reason is because it affects so many movement patterns in a training regimen. Without proper hip alignment and structure we can add load during a strength exercise and possibly cause damage down the road depending on volume. So what can be done to develop healthy hips? Before I start a client on a stretching and hip mobility program I ask them how they spending their day. Weird question to ask you might say. True, but the answer to this question may give us clues to lifestyle changes they can make without even adding a corrective exercise program into the mix. For most people just finding out how much they sit can clue us in to many of the hip issues they might have. As I write this article right now I’ve been reminded to stand up and raise my standing desk to its top end height. If you can increase your standing time by 50% during your day it will help you make huge strides in allowing your hips more natural range of motion.
